Alcona and the newer parts of Innisfil are streets of similar houses on similar lots, built by the same handful of builders. It means your display is not seen on its own. It is seen alongside the four either side of it, and people compare them whether they mean to or not.
The instinct is to add more. More colour, more elements, lights on everything that will hold a clip. On a dense street that reads as clutter, and it competes badly with a neighbour who did one thing properly. The houses that stand out here are almost always the disciplined ones: a single colour temperature, every line followed cleanly, and nothing added that does not have a reason.
The other thing that gives it away up close is consistency. On a wide rural lot nobody notices that one run of lights is slightly yellower than the next. On an Innisfil street where the houses are twelve metres apart, mismatched colour temperature between the roof and the garage is the first thing you see.

A house on the Lake Simcoe shoreline has two audiences. The street side is seen from close range, where detail and texture work. The lake side is seen from much further out, and at that distance fine detail disappears entirely and only strong continuous line and a single consistent colour survive.
So we design those two elevations separately rather than running the same spacing around the whole house. It is the most common correction we get called in to make on a shoreline property that was done by someone else the year before.

Two-storey on a street where three neighbours already had installs. Went the other way deliberately: warm white on every roofline and peak, nothing on the trees, no colour. It reads as the tidiest house on the street rather than the busiest, which is what the owner wanted.

Most Innisfil homes land between $600 and $1,400 for the season. A bungalow in Stroud or Lefroy with a straight roofline sits at the lower end. A two-storey in Alcona with a peak, a garage return and a couple of shrubs is the most common job we do here and lands in the middle. Only if it is done the same way, and this is the thing worth thinking about in Alcona and the newer subdivisions. When four houses in a row have the same builder roofline, the ones that stand out are not the ones with more lights, they are the ones with a clear idea. Warm white on every line and nothing else. Or the roof left plain and two trees done properly. Matching the neighbours exactly but adding twenty percent more is the version that reads as clutter.
September or early October. Installs run late October through the first week of December and the calendar fills in booking order. Innisfil books up quickly because the subdivisions are dense and word travels down a street fast once the first few houses go up, so the neighbours who call in mid-November are usually taking whatever weekday is left.

That consistency matters more than people expect on a street where the houses are close together.
Yes. Shoreline properties on Lake Simcoe get treated as two elevations, because the lake side is read from much further away and only strong continuous lines survive that distance. Friday Harbour has its own considerations around what can be attached where, so we would rather look at the property and confirm the plan before quoting than guess.
You call us, we come out and fix it, and it is included. That is the difference between having them installed and doing it yourself. Half a roofline going out on December 20th means someone on a ladder on frozen ground in the dark, and that is how the majority of December ladder injuries happen.
